Catalyst Cortisol: A New Test for Measuring Cortisol Levels in Dogs

As you may be aware, there are currently just a few tests that can accurately diagnose and manage canine Cushing's disease, and they're usually followed by a long wait for results. The good news is that another option will soon be available. Recently, IDEXX Laboratories announced the launch of the Catalyst Cortisol Test, a new in-clinic cortisol test that can provide results right away and help veterinarians to diagnose and monitor Addison's and Cushing's disease more efficiently.
According to IDEXX, the Catalyst Cortisol Test “enables veterinarians to confidently and accurately diagnose or rule out Addison's disease and Cushing's syndrome during the patient visit” and “has monitoring capabilities that allow for tailored treatment adjustments for patients with Cushing’s syndrome.” IDEXX has also said that the test will provide fast and “highly accurate" results from just a single blood sample.
The new test will be available to veterinarians in the United States and Canada by the end of July 2025, with a global rollout to follow soon after. Additional details are available in the following articles:
